Off Land

Off LandAbout the artist
Off Land is an ambient project by Tim Dwyer, incorporating contemporary classical minimalism with lush ambient textures and drones.

Off Land began a life of sorts in 2001 with the birth of his first ambient project The X:F System. The X:F System released one album in 2004. After that the project and name were dropped and plans for a follow-up ambient album were not in the works.

Off Land came about when Tim was contacted by the ambient label Em:t Records who wanted to hear some new ambient material which Tim did not have and needed to quickly record some new demos. Unfortunately the artistic directions that both Em:t and Tim’s new Off Land music were heading in just weren’t compatible. With new inspiration, Tim has been creating and sharing his ambient works since.

The name Off Land is taken from the title of an obscure drone piece by Moby entitled “Offland”. More than just a stolen word, it represents the music. Floating above the land and in a place that just doesn’t seem quite right. Off Land has had previous releases on Kikapu and Part2 Records.
